Welcome to our blog! We’re glad you’re here! We’ve been thinking about publishing this blog for years, and we are so happy that we finally did it! I wanted to take some time to tell you how we got here…
Ryan and I met in June 2016 and started dating in late July 2016. During our first summer together, we went on a few camping trips – mostly car camping with one short backpacking trip. All of these trips involved tents in one form or another. By the end of the summer, we both agreed… we did not like sleeping in a tent! During one particularly memorable trip, Ryan spent the entire night, awake, obsessing over every noise he heard outside the tent. He was certain that we were about to be bear food! I, on the other hand, just find beds more comfortable than the ground! Fast forward to March 2018, and Ryan and I head to an RV show, just to see what they’d have. Well, that “window shopping” quickly turned into real shopping and we left with a 2017 Keystone Springdale Summerland 1750 RD travel trailer.
We left the RV show and drove to Salida, Colorado for a ski trip with friends! Colorado is the best. Our first camping adventure was a few weeks later, at Cheyenne Mountain State Park, on March 18. Believe it or not, it was HOT that weekend! We were thankful for the camper’s air conditioning.
Over the next several months, we had a great time learning about our new camper.
Starting with the top left and moving clockwise: St. Vrain State Park (Colorado), Boysen State Park (Wyoming), Peak One Campground (Colorado), Gore Creek Campground (Colorado).
We learned a lot that summer. We also had to get a new camper, following a huge hail storm. But we’ll tell you about that later. Although we had a great time with our camper, we quickly realized that we had no idea what we were doing! We made so many mistakes! We wanted to create this blog, so we could tell you about our misadventures. We would have loved to have information like this when we were starting out!
While we will post a lot of camping content here, we will also post general travel content. We LOVE to travel! Most recently, we spent three weeks in the Dutch Caribbean. We’ll tell you all about that trip in a later post. Over the next year, we are traveling to Zion National Park, Mexico (Cancun, Cozumel, and Tulum), New York, and Alaska – just to name a few.
Whether we are sharing camping content or travel content, we will always be encouraging you to use your vacation days! We can’t wait to share our adventures with you!
