Campground Review: Estes Park Campground at East Portal

After we realized that we may not be cut out to be dispersed campers, we were very lucky to have a backup site at the Estes Park Campground at East Portal, near Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park, Colorado.

Overall, we really enjoyed our time at this campground and we would recommend it, if only for its location alone. It is only 11 minutes by car to the east portal of Rocky Mountain National Park, and you can hike into the park from the campground!

We FAILED at Dispersed Camping!

Camping in Colorado requires some serious foresight. Most campsites book up six months out and it can be difficult to find a camping stop at the last minute. Unless, of course, you seek out one of Colorado’s beautiful dispersed camping sites. Well, we tried that and we quickly learned that it isn’t as easy as it looks!
