For some people, camping is a minimalist activity. I, however, am not a minimalist person (seriously, ask any of our friends). Part of the fun of having a camper is the ability to buy things that you would not take with you on a car camping trip. Some of my favorite items would take up half your trunk, but they fit easily inside our 21′ travel trailer. Keep reading to find my favorite not-must-haves!
Recently, we had the opportunity to stay at Prospector Campground; right on the reservoir and just west of Keystone Ski Resort. Overall, we’d highly recommend this campground to anyone looking for a great few days in Summit County!

After we realized that we may not be cut out to be dispersed campers, we were very lucky to have a backup site at the Estes Park Campground at East Portal, near Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park, Colorado.
Overall, we really enjoyed our time at this campground and we would recommend it, if only for its location alone. It is only 11 minutes by car to the east portal of Rocky Mountain National Park, and you can hike into the park from the campground!
Camping in Colorado requires some serious foresight. Most campsites book up six months out and it can be difficult to find a camping stop at the last minute. Unless, of course, you seek out one of Colorado’s beautiful dispersed camping sites. Well, we tried that and we quickly learned that it isn’t as easy as it looks!
